Code in the Classroom

Code in the Classroom

This year Woodgate Intermediate has launched a Technology Applications elective. In this course, students are learning to design websites, write computer code, and so much more. The course instructor, John Storm, is working diligently to teach students technology and tie their learning to classroom content. In a recent unit, students learned how to write computer code using the iPad program Hopscotch. As the students developed their skills, Mr. Storm challenged them to design an animation that depicted the phases of the moon. The animations created by the students went above and beyond the class assignment. Learning to code enables students to think critically and develop necessary skills for the real world. As one student said “..it takes a while…but it is worth it.”
