Bringing It All Together

Bringing It All Together

How do Chemistry students organize their experiments, data, and important information?  They do this by creating their very own interactive digital books. Midway ISD Pre-Ap Chemistry teacher, Krystle Moos, challenged her students to design an iBook that included key information about the six types of gas laws. Using iPads and the Book Creator App each student authored a book that brought together weeks of experiments, notes, equations, definitions, and applications of the laws. In addition to text and images, students also filmed tutorial videos demonstrating how to solve equations related to each of the laws. Students organized the videos, text, and images into a book format and then published their work to the iBooks App on their iPads. Now each student has a dynamic tool for test review and an understanding of how to create their own digital book. Zoheb, a 10th grade student in Mrs. Moos’ class, shared that the project was an excellent way to organize his information. He explained that producing the video was the most challenging part, and it gave him a greater appreciation for the learning videos his teachers create for their classes.
