Cross Campus Coding
The Hour of Code is a global movement that takes place in December giving every student an opportunity to experience computer science for one hour. Midway High School students were able to experience their own Hour of Code cross campuses this year thanks to Computer Science teachers Susan Jones and BJ Williams. First, they introduced Apple’s Swift Playgrounds coding app to their Computer Science courses. Then, they took their show on the road. The Midway High School students went to River Valley Intermediate and Woodgate Intermediate to work one-on-one with students to show them where they can start developing their coding skills. This gave the intermediate students the opportunity to learn coding from high school students and to catch a glimpse of the type of classes they can take when they are at Midway High School.
