Preamble iMovie

“We the People of the United States….” Is that all you remember of the Preamble? Mrs. Gietzen’s fifth grade Language Arts/Social Studies students created iMovies to help them learn the Preamble and commit it to memory.

To make this historic document easier to comprehend, Mrs. Gietzen and her students first identified difficult vocabulary and selected images to help them understand these challenging terms. Students then added text to the images so they would associate the pictures with the correct words in the Preamble. Lastly, students recorded themselves reciting the Preamble and added it to their iMovie. This combination of pictures, text, and video allowed students to not only hear the Preamble recited, but see it come to life.
