Rules for Appropriate Use

The account is to be used mainly for identified educational purposes, but some limited personal use is permitted. Staff members will be held responsible at all times for the proper use of their account and the District may suspend or revoke an employee’s access for violation of rules. Remember that people who receive e-mail from a school address might think the message represents the school’s point of view.

Inappropriate Uses

Using the system for any illegal purpose.

Borrowing someone’s account without permission.

Downloading or using copyrighted information without  permission from the copyright holder.

Posting messages or accessing materials that are abusive, obscene, sexually oriented, threatening, harassing, damaging to another’s reputation, or illegal. Installing programs without approval from the Superintendent or designee.

Wasting school resources through the improper use of the computer system.

Gaining unauthorized access to restricted information or resources.

Consequences for Inappropriate Use

Suspension of access to the system;

Revocation of the computer system account;

or Other disciplinary or legal action in accordance with the employee handbook and applicable
In order to make sure that all members of the Midway ISD (MISD) community understand
and agree to these rules of conduct, MISD asks that you sign the following statement:

I, ______________________________________________ (please print staff member’s
name), have read and understood the MISD Acceptable Use Guidelines of Computers and
Networks. I will abide by them in letter and spirit, and understand that violating them will result
in disciplinary action by the school, up to and including termination.
I understand that my computer use is not private and that the District will monitor my activity
on the computer system.

I also understand that MISD may without charge and without limitation, reproduce, display, or use any product, literary materials, or document or part thereof developed by the undersigned as a MISD staff member in whole or in part using MISD computer equipment or technology in whole or in part.
I also understand that MISD does not warrant that computer or network use will be error-free or the use of computers or networks will be uninterrupted; nor shall it be liable for any direct or indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including lost data, information, or profits) sustained or incurred in connection with the use, operation, or inability to use the system.
